Fredric Brown (1906-1972) is perhaps best remembered for his use of humor and his mastery of the "short-short" form (these days called flash fiction) -- stories of one to three pages, often with ingenious plotting devices and surprise endings. (He also wrote excellent short stories and novels.) This volume contains 27 of his stories, including the classics "The Waveries," "Honeymoon in Hell," "Cartoonist," and many more!

The Second Fredric Brown Megapack 27 Classic Science Fiction Stories The Fredric Brown Megapack Book 2 eBook Fredric Brown
Fredric Brown may sound outdated to some of today's readers - after all, he didn't use a high-end technology in his stories and novels and his predictions about conquest of Space by the end of the 20th Century were too optimistic (and we have to feel ashamed by this fact). But Brown shows better that almost anyone that technology doesn't matter and all fantastic situations he places his heroes in - just show the human character in some very unusual circumstances. In my view this is the most attractive type of SiFi - to analyze Human nature instead of validating the space craft design.Unfortunately, many authors use SiFi backdrop to present some "scientific" or "technical" concepts which would never be accepted even by Scientific American (a ridiculous book "Dark Matter", which I reviewed a few months ago is a perfect example of haphazard mix of aliens and spaceships to discuss a Dark Matter theory). Best authors - Neil Asher, Peter F. Hamilton - combine mind-boggling technologies with strong characters. But for me the technology part isn't so important; our vision of technology will charge completely in 20 years, but people and their adventures will stay the same.
In addition to a very engaging fantasy, I really enjoy Brown's terrific sense of humor. Reading his short - and long - stories is always so much fun. His writing will deliver tons of pleasure 50 years forward; not sure what will happen to the high-tech SiFi.
Read Fredric Brown; you won't regret.

The Second Fredric Brown Megapack 27 Classic Science Fiction Stories The Fredric Brown Megapack Book 2 eBook Fredric Brown Reviews
Great value for a collection of classic sci-fi. Very out-of-date with respect to science and technology but fun reads nevertheless
I really enjoyed these stories. The subtle unexpected humor was refreshing. Wish there was a third collection! I highly recommended this book.
I started reading Fredric Brown's full length book in the late 1950's. Then I found his science fiction short stories in the early 1960's. At that time I read all I could find I loved them all.
Early last year something made me recall one of Brown's short stories, so I put his name in the "Search" box on my account.
I found both Megapack books and ordered them.
The stories were as good or better than I remembered. Some of the stories will seem some what dated, but they are still a great read.
There's one repeat, and a sequel. Everyone of the stories has a twist that makes it amusing. Daisies was so cute I read it to my wife. She isn't a sci-fi enthusiast, but she got a good giggle out of it. There isn't any serious sci in the stories. Some are even impossibly ludicrous, but the fi definitely has character to it.
Fredric Brown is an oft-overlooked science fiction writer who was able to craft fun, engaging tales. Perhaps best known as the author of Arena, which was used for the Star Trek original series with the Gorn, Brown had a flair for strange twists and turns as he led the reader through his tales.
This ebook collects another 27 of Fredric's stories. While I would have preferred that the first and second "megapack" were combined, the price is reasonable. All of the stories are ones I've read before in anthologies and pulp mags, but they still pack a good punch.
Since this is a collection of 40's and 50's Sci-Fi short stories, most of the suggested descriptions cannot apply to the whole book. I chose "nostalgic" because most of the stories are from my early days of reading science fiction stories. As might be expected, the stories tend to be "full of surprises," and it is easy to read most stories in one sitting, so the pace is pretty "steady." Finally, with only a page or two for character development, they would naturally be pretty "one-dimensional." None of which is to imply that I did not like the collection immensely. Fredric Brown has always been one of my favorite S-F authors.
This collection contains sci-fi gems like the new super computer that declared that NOW there is a God, or the one where a man tries to dissuade a scientist from making a weapon that mankind is unprepared to control by giving a loaded pistol to the scientist’s mentally impaired son.
It also contains mind-boggling alternate reality situations/perceptions that would have pleased Philip K Dick. A Whitman’s sampler of short and sweet tales. A nice chaser to the first megapack of Fredric Brown stories. Highly enjoyable.
